New Student Orientation (NSO) at the Uvalde Campus

** Please Read Carefully** (This page may be printed)

This NSO program is a hybrid course. In addition to meeting in the traditional classroom setting, students in hybrid classes are required to attend class meetings, complete on-line assignments, read on-line announcements, read e-mail, attend College Success Seminars at the Uvalde campus, and visit with an Orientation counselor. Students have the flexibility to complete the Orientation program at their own pace.

Students must be registered in ORIE-0100- in order to have access to the NSO course. The NSO course is delivered through the SWTJC Portal, also known as the Campus Cruiser.

Students registered in an ORIE-0100 course are mandated to attend the 1st class meeting held prior to the 1st day of regular classes. Students should refer to their Class Schedule for the date, time, and location. Students are required to attend their scheduled time. No Exceptions! The 1st class meeting is approximately 1-1/2 hour long.

The 1st class meeting consists of going over the Requirements for Orientation, Using the WebAdvisor, and Using the Portal. There will be no make-up date for the 1st class meeting. Students who miss the 1st class meeting have the responsibility of starting Orientation class on their own.

Computer Access - If you do not have computer/internet access, you may go onto any of the four Campuses and use their computer labs, campus library (if available), or your local library. If you have problems with your PC, please use a friends or family member's computer.

When students register at SWTJC, there are 2 web interfaces (listed below) that students will be required to learn and use for the remainder of their attendance at SWTJC. Students are assigned an email address and a User ID to log in to the following web pages. Place the cursor on the webpage below and Use Ctrl+Click to open and then follow the instructions. To find out what your ID and email address are, you must click on Using the WebAdvisor first.

*IMPORTANT**

ONCE YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY LOGGED-IN TO YOUR NSO CLASS, YOU WILL NO LONGER NEED TO COME TO THIS WEBSITE.  ALL COMMUNICATION WILL BE DONE IN THE NSO CLASS E-MAIL.

*TECHNICAL PROBLEMS*

You must remember your ID and Password at all times when using the WebAdvisor and the Campus Cruiser. If you have forgotten either one, DO NOT contact or email the Registrars/Admission Office, the Counseling Center, or ANY other department for this matter because they CAN NOT help you retrieve your Password. Once you set up your new Password, it's your responsibility to keep it and remember it!! No one will have your Password, only You.

If you are having problems with your ID and/or Password for either the Portal or WebAdvisor, please contact the Computer Center Helpline at (830) 591-7323. Make sure that they reset both the WebAdvisor and the Portal for you. Once they have done this, you will have to log-in again as a first time user.

GOOD LUCK !
