Welcome to Introduction to Speech
Communication
SPCH 1311 CUV01
Spring 2008
We are not using
We will have 5 face-to-face
class meetings: January 15, April 1, 8, 15, & 22 (these dates are all on Tuesday).
They will take place on the Uvalde campus, Tate
Classroom #4 from 6pm-9pm. Students must attend these meetings in
order to pass the course. No exceptions! If you cannot attend these dates
for any reason, drop the course.
All communication, assignments and grade postings will be in my course [SPCH 1311 CUV01]. Make sure you are familiar with using the Portal prior to the beginning of the course.
Online exams are completed on www.myspeechlab.com (You will receive
your access code for myspeechlab on Jan 15 when we
meet on the Uvalde Campus, Tate Classroom #4 from 6-9pm).
For this course you will need
the following textbook: Principles for a Lifetime, 3rd ed. including the
access code ($60.06 including tax at the SWTJC bookstore). The access code
included in the book is not the correct access code for the course. In order to
receive the proper access code, students must attend the first meeting on
January 15. Students will not be able to take online exams without an
access code.
For class on Tuesday, January
15, you must have your textbook. I will be explaining the content of the
course, the websites that you will use, and the schedule for the semester.
Missing this day or any other assigned class meeting will result in a letter
grade deduction for every class missed on your final grade.
This course requires adequate
time management skills and self motivation. If you lack these skills drop
the course. No exams or assignments will be accepted once the
scheduled time has lapsed. Please be aware of all important dates to avoid
deductions. These due dates will be posted on the Portal.
I look forward to meeting with
you on January 15. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact
